Alumni

Highland Primary School is proud of its growing and vibrant alumni community. Our former students continue to carry the values, skills, and confidence they developed at Highland into the next stages of their education and life journeys.

Where They Go Next

After completing Primary 6, our alumni transition into both local and international secondary schools, where they consistently excel—academically, socially, and in leadership roles. Many continue their education within the Highland system, while others gain admission into top institutions across the country and beyond.

What Sets Them Apart

Our alumni are known for their:

  • Strong academic foundation

  • Bilingual proficiency (English and French, with additional languages)

  • Confidence in communication and collaboration

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Global awareness and social responsibility

Many continue in Highland’s Secondary program, while others earn placements in well-respected local and international schools due to their academic performance and soft skills.

Staying Connected

We maintain close ties with our alumni and their families. Many return to visit, mentor current students, or participate in school events, serving as inspiring role models for the next generation.

At Highland, we don’t just prepare students for the next grade—we prepare them for life. And our alumni are living proof of that commitment.

At Highland, we view our role in a child’s life as foundational—not only preparing them academically for secondary school but also shaping their character, curiosity, and compassion. Our alumni carry these values with them as they continue their educational journeys and become confident, responsible global citizens.

HIGHLAND SCHOOL ALUMNI & STAFF REUNION ON 24TH MAY 2025

On the 24th of May 2025, over 35 Highland School alumni and more than 30 staff members came
together for a memorable day of commemoration, reflection, and reunion during which a series of
meaningful activities took place.

The different activities that took place include:

1. VISIT TO NYAMATA GENOCIDE MEMORIAL SITE
The day began with a visit to the Nyamata Genocide Memorial Site, where staff and alumni paid their
respects to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
This moment was deeply emotional and
offered us a chance for remembrance, learning, and honoring the past. We were reminded of the resilience
of the Rwandan people and the importance of unity, peace, and reconciliation.

2. VISIT TO THE FORMER HIGHLAND SCHOOL LOCATION
After the memorial visit, we proceeded to the former location of Highland School, the foundation of many
of our cherished memories. When we got there, Aunt Sandra shared stories about the early days of the
school, its humble beginnings, and the spirit that kept it alive. This visit reinforced in us the pride of being part of Highland’s rich history.
At Highland, we provide quality education from Nursery through Primary 6, nurturing students to become principled, lifelong learners and globally-minded citizens committed to building a more peaceful and sustainable world. Our learners are empowered to think critically and independently, act with empathy, integrity, and courage, and take ownership of their learning and personal growth.

We would like To hear from you
